Japanese Notan Project 

First sketch of my design process

Second variation of my sketch process with some minor changes of shapes and direction. 

Final notan design using negative shape and space principle of designs to create my final project. Black tough project paper was also integrated into the final artwork using a x-acto knife to carefully cut out the shapes. The design I was going was a Navajo storm pattern which a traditional design to the Navajo people often seen on clothing or accessories.
